Riviera maya restaurant manville nj8/12/2023 ![]() The crowd does not care, they are simply drinking them down to catch a buzz at $5 per drink. I totally get it when someplace like Chili’s, Applebee’s or even a college hangout serve it with sugary sweet & sour mix. However, what I cannot understand is how any Mexican place serves a Margarita with anything else other than fresh lime juice. The tortilla chips come with a hot and spicy salsa (the way I like), a bit watery, but the heat packs a punch, and I can appreciate that. Yes, I know its a Monday afternoon, however, I worked three 15-hour days in a row shooting weddings, so Monday is my day to relax and I am going to have a margarita. So its truly a nice atmosphere, with the paper artwork hanging to the beautiful paintings and quiet, friendly atmosphere. They have great Mexican music playing (not top 40 latin hits, nor the dreaded 1980s music so many places love these days and I can’t understand why). When you first walk in, you are greeted and you almost feel like you are in an authentic Mexican restaurant. So, when a new place pops up that is not a commercial chain, I have to give it a chance. Sure, there are the tons of chain and franchise places which claim to serve Mexican food, but we all know its commercialized Tex-Mex and is nothing really like what you would get from a true Mexican kitchen. I highly recommend you make a stop to eat at Riviera Maya.I know most might think I am crazy, but its really hard to find good, authentic Mexican food. The prices are good and you get large servings. They are located right on highway 15 in Branchville, NJ. This was so much food that even my husband had to take some home. There salsa has great flavor and the chips had the right amount of crunch. Like most authentic Mexican restaurants, they bring you free chips and salsa. We also had Birria de Pollo which is chicken with carrots, potatoes and a fabulous sauce! This also came with rice and beans for $16. The beans are also very flavorful and have a nice texture. There rice is very fluffy and has perfect flavor. they were both delicious!!! I had mine with Mole Sauce which was so good I could have eaten it alone! This also comes with beans and rice. ![]() I had a Chimichanga and a chicken enchilada. This is the perfect place to stop if you are on your way to the Poconos! The Mexican food is Authentic and always Delicious!! The service is excellent and the place is nicely decorated. ![]() ![]() You can see my 1st review of this restaurant website of June 15, 2019 Unfortunately yelp does not allow me to post pics of the broken glasses and original ticket so I'll have to find another site that will. I was given a LUNCH MENU but charged dinner pricing, what's going on with this place? What a SCAM, SHAME on you JESUS.M and SHAME on RIVIERA MAYA, if I could give you a NEGATIVE STAR rating I would. To my amazement the waiter explained that the order was submitted "a couple minutes too late and it went into dinner pricing". I did not understand why the cost was higher than what was listed on the Lunch-Menu I was handed. When he returned with the Margaritas we place our order and noticed that the glasses were heavily chipped - WHY AM I SERVED A BROKEN GLASS? Last time it was a broken plate!!Īnyway, shortly thereafter our meals arrived, and yes, they were very tasty so I was ready to forget the broken glasses (both of them), but then the check arrived. Let me start off by saying that we arrived at 2:45 and were seated right away because the place was mostly empty, our waiter was very pleasant, he handed us LUNCH MENUS and took our drink order right away. Farms on 08/12/19 we decided to stop at R/M on Rt206 in Branchville for another try. My disappointing review in June was on the Rockaway restaurant which the owner Jesus M (owner) promised to mail me a no-cost return voucher but sadly never did.Īfter our visit to Space. Here I am writing another review this time on the Branchville location.
